MA. Meritxell Calderón – Taller “Film as a Tool For Gender Criticism” /Human Rights Panel LGBTI


Born in Barcelona, Spain, human rights advocate and social activist since 1994, she has participated in various social movements. During college she formed the Group 50 International Amnesty where students reviewed judgments of the International Criminal Court and participated in promoting urgent action to claim the right to the presumption of innocence since 1999.
With a law degree from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) in 2002, certified as a Community Activist Organization Center for People of Color in San Francisco, California in 2002, Master’s degree of Fundamental Rights by the Carlos III University of Madrid in 2004. In 2012 she was awarded in recognition of her career on Defense of Human Rights by the UNESCO and the Mexican Academy of Human Rights. She holds several diplomas, among them are the Cinema and Human Rights, Religion and Human Rights, both of the University Carlos III of Madrid , Development of Cultural and Social Projects by Fudación Ollín Atl in Mexico City.
